Cooper Tire Appoints General Manager Cooper Chengshan Tire
FINDLAY OHIO OCT. 16 2009 - COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE:CTB) today announced that Steven Zhou has accepted the position of general manager of Cooper Chengshan (Shandong) Tire Co. Ltd. Cooper's manufacturing joint venture in Rongchen City China.
In his new position Zhou will report directly to Asian Operations Vice President and General Manager Allen Tsaur and will be responsible for planning directing and coordinating the manufacturing operations at CCT. The facility employs 5000 in the manufacture of tires inner tubes and truck flaps.

"As we continue to remold our global footprint to support the growing domestic and export markets it is critical that the products we manufacture in Asia continue to conform to the highest quality standards and meet customer delivery requirements. "Zhou's background includes extensive business experience in both China and the U.S. His prior experience includes 12 years' work in roles with increasing responsibility at the Timken Company where most recently he served in China as general manager and as a member of the board of directors for Timken's wholly-owned manufacturing entity in China.
Zhou earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Shanghai University a master's and doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut and an executive master's in business administration degree from the China Europe International Business School.
Zhou replaces Chuck Taylor who has served as CCT general manager since 2007. As CCT general manager Taylor was instrumental in developing and constructing a successful joint venture relationship. Zhou will officially assume the role of general manager Dec. 11 and Zhou and Taylor will work closely during the next two months to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities. Beginning in 2010 Taylor will serve as general manager Strategic Planning and ERP Readiness and relocate to Shanghai where he will be responsible for creating the shared services organization and integrating the ERP implementation for Asia.
