An Environment of Inclusion

By: Karil Morrissey
Vice President, Global Talent, Organizational Development & Diversity

At Cooper, we believe in providing a work environment where employees feel welcome, respected and valued for who they are and their contributions. Just as a combination of many different high quality materials are key to manufacturing safe, great performing tires, a diverse group of top performing employees are a necessity for achieving organizational greatness.

In my role, I have the opportunity to work every day to advance the level of respect and inclusion within our walls and in the communities where we operate. As such, Cooper has joined Ohio Business Competes, a coalition of businesses committed to achieving state-wide nondiscrimination policies to attract the best talent to the Buckeye State. Like other coalition members, Cooper believes that discrimination has no place in the workplace.

In our hometown of Findlay, Ohio, where Cooper’s global headquarters is located, employees have actively volunteered at the community’s annual pride picnic organized by LBGTQ+ Spectrum of Findlay, a local non-profit group. Cooper has also served as an event sponsor and is part of the organization’s Ally Directory, a listing seeking to connect the LGBTQ community to open and affirming local businesses.

The benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce are many. Embracing each person’s uniqueness – differences in age, sex, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status and other characteristics – strengthens our business and enhances our performance as a leading global competitor in the tire industry.
